These are some experiments in AI image generation, tools used include Stable Diffusion, Hailuo, Runway ML and Kling
Walter Benjamin
No film reels of Walter Benjaim exist. In his essay The Work of Art in the Age of Its Technological Reproducibility he quotes Abel Gance:
“Shakespeare, Rembrandt, Beethoven will make films... all legends, all mythologies and all myths, all founders of religion, and the very religions... await their exposed resurrection, and the heroes crowd each other at the gate.”
Reversing The Wrong Man
In Jean-Luc Godards earliest criticism he describes visual miracles occuring in Hitchcock's The Wrong Man. In one scene a prison door flys open and the protagonist is free. In another a faithful prayer leads to a superimposition that the plot pivots on. Discussing The Wrong Man in his Histoire(s) du Cinema Godard writes:
“O how marvelous to be able to look at what one cannot see. O sweet miracle of our blind eyes.”
The miraculous nature of AI is reversed here where it is used to keep the door shut and portray lost faith.
